Uma ação conjunta da Guarda Civil Municipal, da Brigada Militar, da Polícia Civil e da Força-tarefa de Fiscalização da Prefeitura de São Leopoldo encerrou uma aglomeração de cerca de duzentas pessoas, muitas delas sem máscara, na rua Irmã Helenita, no bairro São José, em desconformidade com o decreto municipal de calamidade pública para fins de prevenção e de enfrentamento à epidemia causada pelo novo coronavírus. Também foram verificados descumprimentos ao Código Brasileiro de Trânsito. A ação ocorreu durante a tarde deste domingo, dia 16 de agosto.

A força-tarefa é coordenada pela Secretaria-Geral de Governo e composta por servidores de sete secretarias municipais, além do Semae. Ao todo, 36 fiscais atuam na Força-tarefa, que tem o auxílio permanente da Guarda Civil Municipal.
